Need alternate templates or edit?
There are some pages for traits that only exist in one edition or the other. Some of these are reasonable to leave as is, such as Geist or Mummy pages, which don't have second edition content to fill out but probably will sometime down the line. Others, though, have blank editions not because they haven't been filled out yet but because there isn't and won't be anything to fill: second edition Flaws or Derangements, for example, which are systems that second edition doesn't use, or first edition Demon or Beast pages, which are games that came out after the end of the first edition.
The edition template creates orphan links whenever this happens, which clogs up the otherwise useful Wanted Pages list with entries that don't actually need to be filled. Could the template be edited or supplemented to be able to account for pages that only exist in one edition without creating a link to the other, or should the central page in these cases just be edited with a redirect to the extant edition page?

- Would it be better if non-existing edition pages weren't linked in the template? IE: "Anchors" currently transcludes "Anchors (2nd Edition)", but also has a link to "Anchors (1st Edition)". Getting it so that the 1E link didn't show would be pretty easy, so long as that page didn't exist. ROMzombie (talk) 16:23, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- That'd work, sure, although it'd make it inconvenient when, say, creating Merits, Promethean (2nd Edition) when that page doesn't exist yet. I lean more towards flat redirects, I think, or maybe an alternate template that just tells you it's a page that has no edition counterpart. In the long run, there's more material that "will have a counterpart, just not yet" than "probably never will have a counterpart." But either solution will work.
